This course delivers the full Able Seaman program through live telepresence. You attend scheduled, instructor-led sessions in real time without traveling to a training center. It keeps the quality of classroom instruction while giving working mariners the flexibility they need.
What you will learn: same curriculum as the in-person Able Seaman course. It covers deck operations, marlinspike seamanship, watchkeeping, shipboard safety, USCG regulations and marine environmental protection.
Standards: meets STCW Code Section A-II/5 (Table A-II/5) and 46 CFR 12.603(a)(4), covering the written exam and the practical marlinspike seamanship demonstration. Recognized by the USCG, Transport Canada and international maritime authorities.
Endorsements you can apply for: AB Unlimited (540 days of ocean service), AB Limited (360 days) or AB Special (180 days).
Requirements: a computer with camera, microphone and a stable internet connection. Your eligibility is confirmed at enrollment.
Certification: certificate of training issued on successful completion.
